The transition to 100% renewable energy in Puerto Rico could take different pathways with vastly different social implications, as will be illustrated in the multi-lab effort titled Puerto Rico Grid Resilience and Transitions to 100% Renewable Energy (PR100). The PR100 project team is enlisting the expertise of the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez (URPM) to ensure that pathways towards energy justice are appropriately incorporated in the PR100 study. UPRM will also ensure that different technology alternatives are compared with decentralized solar rooftop systems with batteries in a way that is consistent with local studies and perspectives.
